Color It Red Blog Hop



I'm very happy to be participating in another hop, this one brought to us by Carol at Just Let Me Quilt.

For my project, I designed a WoolFelt Penny Rug/Table Mat that I'm calling "Lovely Ladies." It features eight lovely red (of course) ladybugs surrounding a red flower. It measures 16", is fun to sew up, and would be perfect on any Spring/Summer table!

    Pretty penny rug! Do you know why it is called a penny rug?? I have never worked with wool, but I like what you did!

      Thanks! They're called "Penny Rugs" because they used to use coins as templates to cut out scraps of wool and other fabrics to make rugs and table coverings. You can read more about the history at these links:

    A pretty penny rug! Unfortunately I am allergic to wool but I think it could be made from cottons.

    Beautiful penny rug! I stitched up some wool projects with lady bugs a few years ago. Wool is wonderful to work with. Thanks for sharing.
