The theme for this hop is, obviously, the color orange. I've created a wool felt candle mat/large mug rug loosely based on Drunkards Path quilt blocks, which are curved pieced blocks.
To create my mat, I started with two background pieces of a brown wool felt measuring 12.5" square, and four 5.5" circles in four different shades of orange. I cut the circles into quarters, and used three of quarters from each color.
I appliqued the quarters onto one of the 12.5" background pieces using embroidery floss and a blanket stitch. Then, I blanket stitched the other 12.5" background piece to the back to cover up all the stitching.
