The challenge was to make something yellow, so I went to my fabric stash and dug out all the yellow fabrics I had. I really enjoy handwork, and English Paper Piecing, so I decided to make some hexagon flowers. I planned to figure out what to do with them later lol. I ended up making sixteen flowers using hexagons whose sides measured .75" (I had some card stock hexagons on hand in that size.)

I settled on assembling them together to make a small table mat. The final size is 13.5" tall and 20.5" wide.

To finish it off, I backed it with a piece of WoolFelt that I had in my stash. I sewed the layers together with a blanket stitch around the entire perimeter using yellow embroidery floss.

Here's the finished piece on my dining room buffet cabinet, with a teapot atop.
