A big thanks to Carla of Creatin in the Sticks for bringing us this hop. We definitely all need more sunshine in our lives right now!

The challenge was to make something yellow, so I went to my fabric stash and dug out all the yellow fabrics I had. I really enjoy handwork, and English Paper Piecing, so I decided to make some hexagon flowers. I planned to figure out what to do with them later lol. I ended up making sixteen flowers using hexagons whose sides measured .75" (I had some card stock hexagons on hand in that size.)

I settled on assembling them together to make a small table mat. The final size is 13.5" tall and 20.5" wide.

To finish it off, I backed it with a piece of WoolFelt that I had in my stash. I sewed the layers together with a blanket stitch around the entire perimeter using yellow embroidery floss.

Here's the finished piece on my dining room buffet cabinet, with a teapot atop.

I love to read all your comments and will reply via email, unless you are a No Reply Blogger.
