I haven't done enough quilting to have that much experience with different quilt blocks. But there are blocks that I've seen that I wanted to try. One of them was a free block offered by the site formerly known as Craftsy (now Blueprint). I had downloaded the pattern sometime in 2018 I think, but never did anything with it. I thought it would be perfect for this hop.
The block is called "May Flowers" and here's the link to the pattern. And here's a picture of my sewn block:
The final block size is 8.5", so I decided to turn mine into a 8.5" x 12" mug rug.

That is a very sweet block and is a great mug rug. A quilt with a bunch of different colors would be so pretty too. Thanks for joining the hop, Elizabeth. Love your block.
ReplyDeleteGreat block, I’ve never seen that one before. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI miss Craftsy and all the fun patterns they had available. This one is a really cute one and looks so sweet in your mug rug. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMany possibilities with the flower block.
ReplyDeleteNice mug rug. I miss Craftsy so much as I could spend hours looking at patterns and fabric.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great block! So many possibilities with this one. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteCute block and sometimes the favorite block is the current project you are working on.
ReplyDeleteNice block. I can see some of my brightest fabrics in this one.
ReplyDeleteI'm SEW glad that the Hop provided the incentive you needed to finally make that block! Enjoy your new mug rug.
ReplyDeleteAn adorable mugrug for sure, my guess is that changing the colors in the different areas will also affect how you could layout this design into a larger project, but even doing the colors as you have would give a very dimensional affect to the block. Thanks for sharing today Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteThat's different, and a great way to use a block!
ReplyDeleteOh wouldn't this make a beautiful rainbow garden of flowers in a quilt! Hope you have a chance to make an entire quilt with it!
ReplyDeleteI like this easy flower block pattern. I have made it before under another name . Or maybe no name. Sometimes easy simple blocks are just the best. Thank you for sharing in the hop ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one I haven't seen before. Thanks for sharing it!

ReplyDeleteI miss Craftsy! May Flowers block is new to me and I can imagine how lovely they'd be sewn up in pretty fabrics all in rows...it would look like a garden in bloom!

ReplyDeleteThis is a great block and your mug rug is a wonderful use of it. The block itself has such potential for so many other quilt ideas. could be a great stash buster, hmmmmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI have a quilt on my list using that block, but it isn't as a flower. Funny how color placement can completely change the looks of something!
