I Didn't Let the Door Stop Me...Blog Hop

I'm so happy to be participating in another fun blog hop. A big thanks to Thanks to Carla and Madame Samm for all their efforts!

For my doorstop project, I decided to do a simple shape and focus on the applique designs that adorn it. What I came up with is a four-seasons cube...it can be turned to show the current season and used all year long. I used cotton fabric (backed with fusible fleece for structure and batting) for the cube and the appliques are WoolFelt. The handle is a piece of clothesline.

Here's the finished 8.5" tall x 7.5" wide cube in my sewing room:

And here are the four seasons/sides:
As you can see, Spring has embroidered cherry blossoms, and Summer has some embroidered flowers at the base of the tree.

The bottom of the cube is open, and there's a cardboard box inside to maintain the shape. Also, the box contains a zip-lock bag filled with rice for weight. Strips of Velcro hold the box in the place.

If you'd like to make one yourself, here's a detailed tutorial!
